The VFS-PA Photoelectric Smoke Alarm is BSI Kitemark certified under KM 694336 and complies with EN 14604:2005/AC:2008, the European standard covering smoke alarm devices. It also carries UKCA and CE markings, providing additional assurance that the alarm has been manufactured and assessed to the applicable requirements for residential smoke detection. The independent BSI Kitemark provides installers, contractors and homeowners with added confidence in the alarm’s quality, safety and performance.

Designed for residential fire protection, the VFS-PA uses a high-performance photoelectric sensor to detect visible smoke particles and is particularly responsive to slow, smouldering fires, such as those involving sofas, bedding and other soft furnishings. The manual recommends smoke alarms in circulation spaces including hallways and landings, as well as bedrooms and principal living areas, with alarms installed on every storey as part of an appropriately designed fire detection system.

The VFS-PA operates from a 220–240V AC 50Hz mains supply and incorporates a replaceable 9V battery backup, maintaining alarm protection in the event of a mains power failure. It produces a powerful >85dB(A) audible alarm at 3 metres, includes an approximately 8-minute silence function, and supports wired interconnection, allowing linked alarms to sound together when any one unit is activated. Wired interconnected alarms can be installed with a maximum wiring length of 150 metres between alarms, making the VFS-PA suitable for coordinated protection across larger residential installations.
